Anthony Misetich - Proven Community Leader

Anthony Misetich was born in 1960 and was raised in San Pedro. He attended elementary school at South Shores elementary school graduating there in 1972. Anthony’s family roots stems from the fishing industry, his grandfather Anton Misetich was a captain and owner of several fishing vessels and his other grandfather Luka Bogdanovich was a plant manager at Star Kist. His father, Anthony J. Misetich was President of San Pedro High School in 1955.

Anthony’s family moved from San Pedro to Rancho Palos Verdes in 1972.  Anthony attended Dapplegray Intermediate School and Miraleste High school. 

Anthony was involved in sports as a youth,  having played baseball in the South Shores Little League and High School football at Miraleste High School. He was a starting offensive tackle on the varsity football team coached by Gary Kimbrell in 1977, which won the Pioneer League championship and went onto the CIF playoffs. He was named first team All Pioneer League that year. 

Anthony also spent summers working as a crewmember on his family’s fishing boat and unloaded fish at the canneries. He accumulated nearly 150 days of sea time over the course of several summers traveling to fishing grounds off of Mexico and Central America.

Anthony went on to attend Occidental College and played varsity football for OXY in the early 1980’s. He graduated with a degree in Political Science in 1983 and joined the company he has worked for 25 years, General Petroleum, in 1984.

Anthony is currently vice president of lubricant manufacturing for General Petroleum. In this role he is responsible for overseeing the lubricant manufacturing operations for the company’s lubricant plants in both Los Angeles and Panama.

Anthony first met his wife Chris at Rolling Hills Racquet club in 1988. They dated for two years and he and Chris were married in 1990. They have a daughter and two sons.   His wife Chris is a homemaker and daughter Kelley attends Palos Verdes High School.  Sons Matthew and Jonathan attend Miraleste Intermediate School (Anthony’s former Alma Mater). Both Anthony and Chris are dedicated to raising their three children.

Anthony also currently serves as President of the Harbor Association of Industry and Commerce (HAIC) a business trade organization dedicated to the development of business in the ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach and to the growth of international trade. He also served on the HAIC government affairs committee and has traveled to Sacramento to meet with legislative leaders.

Anthony also has had extensive involvement in community service. He was President of the Dalmatian American Club of San Pedro 1998-1999, a LA city commissioner (relocation appeals board 1999-2006), Honorary Mayor of San Pedro 2005-2007, and served on the RPV Finance Advisory committee in 2008.  He has been the company representative to the San Pedro Peninsula chamber of commerce and is a member of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
